Are you having trouble finding what waste type you need for your basin? Read our guide to help you identify if you need a slotted or unslotted waste.
Slotted or unslotted basin waste?
Choosing whether you need a slotted or unslotted style of waste is crucial. If your basin already has an overflow you will need a slotted waste. Alternatively, if your basin has no overflow you will need an unslotted waste.
What is an overflow? Does your basin have one?
An overflow is a small hole located on the back of the basin bowl, most commonly below the taps. When the water fills up and the basin and begins to get too full, the overflow will drain the excess water and help prevent water spilling over the top of the basin. Most basins will come with an overflow but not all.
Fitting the correct waste
It is very important that you choose the right waste type as slotted wastes are not suitable for basins without an overflow, simply because they will not fit. This is the same for an unslotted waste; they will not fit basins that have an overflow. Fitting the wrong basin waste may result in your overflow not working, water leaking onto your floor or both.
